75% Of Older Adults Interested In ‘Smart Home’ Technology To Support Aging
About 75% of adults age 50 and older in six developed countries said in a survey that they were interested in using “smart home” technology to support aging in the community. The technologies included sensors and devices that could alert health care providers and families to potential emergencies.
The survey included responses from 4,501 adults in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland. The majority, 4,449 individuals, were receiving facility-based “aged care” or were open to using “aged care facilities” in the future.
