77.5% Of U.S. Mental Health Treatment Facilities Serving Children Offered Telehealth Services; 56.1% Offered Telehealth Medication Management
Among U.S. mental health treatment facilities (MHTFs) serving children, 77.5% offered telehealth services, according to a recent study. Just over half (56.1%) also offered medication management through telehealth.
The findings are based on a secret shopper study in which doctoral-level trainees posed as parents seeking care for prospective child patients and called all 5,559 outpatient MHTFs listed in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Behavioral Health Treatment Locator. Overall, 77.6% of the facilities surveyed offered mental health services to children.
