90.3% Of U.S. Adults Report Having A Usual Source Of Care, But Younger Adults Increasingly Rely On Urgent Care & Retail Clinics

Most U.S. adults (90.3%) reported having a usual source of health care in 2024, according to data from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), though patterns of care access vary significantly by age and care setting.

Women (93.3%) were more likely than men (87.1%) to report having a usual source of care.

Overall, 77.5% of adults identified a doctor’s office or health center as their primary source of care, with women (82.2%) more likely than men (72.6%) to rely on these settings.
