Over 90% Of California’s Older Homeless Adults Were State Residents When Losing Their Last Stable Housing
A total of 91% of homeless adults aged 50 years and older in California were state residents when they lost their last stable housing, according to a recent survey. A full 75% of these individuals were last housed in the same county where they were currently experiencing homelessness. A full 41% of older homeless adults had their first episode of homelessness after age 50. A total of 41% of older adults also met the federal criteria for chronic homelessness.
