94% Of All Medicaid-Eligible Children Were In Managed Care In 2017, Up From 65% In 2000
Between 2000 and 2017, the share of Medicaid-eligible children and youth up to age 21 enrolled in a managed care plan or a primary care case management model increased from 65% to 94%. Overall, the number of children enrolled in Medicaid increased by about 15 million, from 23.5 million in 2000 to 40.5 million in 2017. During the same period, number of children enrolled in Medicaid managed care or a primary care case management model increased by 22 million.
