97% Of Employer Health Plans Offer Mental Health Services, 67% Addiction Services
A recent survey of 400 employers, each with 500 or more employees, revealed almost all offer health plans with mental health coverage (97%) and 67% cover substance use treatment. The survey sought to better understand the scope of mental health benefits being offered, as addressing mental health in the workplace can improve productivity, reduce turnover, and help manage health care costs for employers. A majority of employers reported actively considering adding clinical services to their mental health benefits, like urgent care for psychiatry (51%), additional mental health services (73%), and additional substance use service (51%).
