About 52.1% Of Adults With Mental Illness Received Mental Health Treatment In The Past Year
Among the 61.5 million community-dwelling adults aged 18 or older in 2024 living with any mental illness (AMI), 52.1% received any mental health treatment in the past year, according to 2024 data reported in a recent survey. The survey also found that among 14.6 million adults with serious mental illness (SMI) in the past year, 70.8% received mental health treatment.;
AMI among adults refers to the presence of a mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder of sufficient duration to meet diagnostic criteria.
It excludes developmental disorders and substance use disorders.
