During 2020, there were more than 80.8 million Medicaid beneficiaries, and of those about 85%, 67.8 million beneficiaries were enrolled in some form of Medicaid managed care. The majority (86%) of beneficiaries in a managed care plan were enrolled in a comprehensive Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) with or without managed long-term services and supports (MLTSS), representing 58.5 million beneficiaries in 43 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
