ACA Plan Cancellations Increased 24% Between January & March 2026 Compared With 2025
Several state-based marketplaces reported that plan cancellations rose 24% between January and March 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. The increase followed the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at the end of 2025, which increased costs for many enrollees and was associated with changes in coverage decisions that did not become fully visible until after the open enrollment period closed.
