Accreditation Commission For Health Care Expands Assisted Living Accreditation Program Nationwide

The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) is expanding its accreditation program for assisted living facilities nationwide, according to an announcement issued December 2, 2025.

The decision to expand was based on the outcomes of a three-year pilot in North Carolina. For the pilot, 113 adult care homes and assisted living communities participated to pursue accreditation. In 2021, the North Carolina General Assembly approved the Adult Care Home Accreditation Pilot Program, with the intention of including up to 150 assisted living communities to evaluate the effectiveness of accreditation.
