ADHD-Specific Text Message Intervention Raised Adherence To Stimulant Treatment
Approximately 68% of people with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who participated in a 37-day text message program to improve their adherence with stimulant treatment, had timely refills of their prescription medication(s). This compares to about 34% of a control group who did not receive the text messages had timely refills of their prescription medication(s). Text messages included reminders to take prescription at time prescribed, medication refill reminders, education about ADHD, and education about prescription medication.
