Adult ADHD Incidence Down 10% Between 2016 To 2020, But Rose 15% Between 2020 To 2023
The incidence of new attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnoses among adults aged 19 to 50 receiving care from the Sisters of Saint Mary (SSM) health care system in the midwestern United States declined by 10.6% between 2016 and 2020, from 0.78% in 2016 to 0.54% in 2020. During this period the annual incidence averaged 0.75%, and ranged from 0.54% (in 2020) to 0.95% (in 2017). However, between 2020 and 2023, the incidence of adult ADHD increased by 15.2%.
