Adults With Depression Or Anxiety Plus Medical Debt Twice As Likely To Delay Or Forego Mental Health Counseling
About 25% of adults with depression and 20% of adults with anxiety report having difficulties paying for medical debt. These individuals with medical debt were more than twice as likely to say they delayed or skipped counseling or therapy to treat their mental health disorder. The estimates are based on responses to the 2022 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS).
