Adults With I/DDs Had Higher Prevalence Of Anxiety & Depression & More Barriers To Care
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) reported substantially higher rates of anxiety and depression than adults without functional limitations, according to a study published in JAMA Network Open. Adults with I/DD were also more likely to report daily symptoms and greater use of psychiatric medications.
The researchers analyzed responses from 44,478 adults age 18 and older who participated in the National Health Interview Survey in 2021, 2022, or 2023. Of these, 796 adults had I/DD and 43,682 reported no functional limitations.
