Aetna Cuts Coverage Of Audio-Only & Asynchronous Text-Based Telehealth Visits For Self-Insured Commercial Plans
On December 1, 2023, Aetna revised its policies for self-insured commercial plans to exclude coverage of audio-only and asynchronous text-based telehealth services. The policy change does not apply to Aetna’s fully insured commercial plans in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia.
Aetna expanded coverage of these treatment channels during the COVID-19 public health emergency, which formally ended on May 11, 2023.
