After The ACA & Before COVID-19, About 75% Of U.S. Children Relied On Medicaid, CHIP, Or Marketplace Plans
An estimated 3 of 4 U.S. children relied on Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP), Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace plans, or experienced a period without any insurance before their 18th birthday, according to recent research. Only one in four U.S. children maintained continuous coverage in private non-Marketplace coverage throughout childhood. Upcoming policy changes that reduce Medicaid funding and enrollment could worsen the risk of coverage gaps for children, the researchers concluded.
