AI Algorithm Predicts Alzheimer’s Disease Risk Seven Years In Advance With 72% Accuracy
An artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm can identify people at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease up to seven years before cognitive symptoms are noticeable. The algorithm was developed by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The algorithm accurately predicted 72% of Alzheimer’s disease cases that developed up to seven years.
The researchers utilized over 5.5 million electronic health records for nearly 3,000 health care consumers diagnosed with Alzheimer’s by the UCSF Memory and Aging Center from 1980 to 2021. The goal was to build AI models based on clinical data . . .
