Alabama To Implement Criminal Justice Reforms To Strengthen Parole & Divert Low-Risk Offenders
On May 21, 2015, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley signed SB67 into law to implement criminal justice reforms to strengthen parole and divert low-risk offenders. Major provisions of the law include strengthening community-based supervision, prioritizing prison space for individuals convicted of violent and dangerous crimes, and the use of evidence-based services and treatments for individuals being supervised in the community.
