Alabama Launches ‘Reentry 2030’ Inmate Training Initiative To Reduce Recidivism By Half
The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles (ABPP) has launched a new initiative called “Reentry 2030” to reduce recidivism rates by half, to 15%, by 2030. The initiative also seeks to increase labor participation rates among formerly incarcerated people by 50%. Through Alabama Reentry 2030, the state offers formerly incarcerated people expanded access to behavioral health care and addiction treatment, it streamlines the issuance of state identification cards, and increases participation in job training, apprenticeship, and educational services.
