BCBS Alabama Behavioral Health Carve Out Ends; Alabama Psychiatric Services Closes

On February 13, 2015, about one-year after Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) implemented new model for providing behavioral health services which ended its behavioral health carve-out, its primary contractor Alabama Psychiatric Services, P.C. (APSY) closed. For the past 30 years, APSY was the primary provider organization for people enrolled in the BCBSAL Expanded Psychiatric Services (EPS/EPL) pre-paid, capitated rider for group health plans.
