Alcohol-Related Deaths In The U.S. More Than Double From 1999 To 2020
The rate of alcohol-related deaths in the United States in 2020 was more than double the rate in 1999, rising from 10.7 per 100,000 to 21.6 per 100,000. The number of alcohol-related deaths increased 152%, from 19,356 in 1999 (among a total US population of 180,408,769 aged 25 and over) to 48,870 in 2020 (among a total US population of 226,635,013 aged 25 and over).
