Arizona Medicaid Launches Housing Program For Homeless Beneficiaries With SMI
On October 1, 2024, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and program manager Solari officially launched the Housing and Health Opportunities (H2O) waiver program to expand housing services for Medicaid beneficiaries diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI) and experiencing homelessness. Solari is the program administrator. The state’s goal is to expand housing services and interventions for the highest risk Medicaid beneficiaries with SMI and experiencing homelessness. The integrated model aims to reduce the overall cost of care by decreasing the use of emergency services, hospitalizations, and crisis interventions, and increasing primary care and preventive health services.
