Autism Diagnoses Among Females Increased By 19% Per Year Annually From 2020 To 2024, No Change In Diagnosis Rate For Males

Between 2020 and 2024, the annual rate of new autism diagnoses at a large U.S. health care system increased by 19% per year for females, but there was no increase among males. Before 2020, the annual rate of new diagnoses declined.

The trends were identified in an analysis of electronic health records from 171,134 people who received care every year between 2016 and 2024 within a large U.S. health care system.
