Availability Of Ridesharing Linked To More Participation In IOP Addiction Treatment
Outpatient addiction treatment provider organizations in areas where the UberX rideshare service was available reported a slight increase in participation in intensive treatment but a decrease in participation in non-intensive treatment. Participation in intensive outpatient treatment increased by 0.69 admissions per 1,000 people per year. Participation in non-intensive treatment decreased by 28%, with 0.62 fewer admissions per 1,000 people per year.
The analysis considered only the availability of the UberX ridesharing service and its effect on consumer participation in addiction treatment. It did not consider the effect of rides paid by a treatment provider . . .
