On August 9, 2017, Beacon Health Options announced that it entered a value-based contract with Column Health to expand access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for Massachusetts residents with opioid use disorder. The contract features a value-based, bundled payment structure.

The Column Health program provides on-site counseling and prescriptions for oral MAT medications, such as buprenorphine and naltrexone, that can be filled at the consumer's pharmacy. It also provides prescriptions for injectable Vivitrol (naltrexone), another MAT medication that can be administered at the Column Health offices.
