Being Selected For A Housing Choice Voucher Linked To Lower Criminal Justice System Involvement

Criminal justice involvement was lower among those offered a Housing Choice Voucher compared to those who applied, but were not selected, according to a recent study. The Housing Choice Voucher is a large low-income housing subsidy program managed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Researchers analyzed outcomes for a random sample of de-identified voucher recipients in rural and suburban Sonoma County, California, who had participated in a voucher lottery.
