The Number Of Adults Receiving Buprenorphine Treatment Rose 40% Between 2012 & 2018
The quarterly number of adults with opioid use disorder who were treated with buprenorphine rose by 42% between 2012 and 2018. During 2012 and 2013, an average of 427,840 adults with opioid use disorder were treated with buprenorphine each quarter. From 2014 through 2018, the average quarterly treatment number rose to 606,090. From 2014 through 2018, each quarter, an average of 178,260 more people with opioid use disorder were treated with buprenorphine.
Between the two time periods, the quarterly average treatment data indicated that more people covered by Medicaid, private insurance, and other public payers were treated . . .
