4% More Nebraska Children Entered Foster Care Between 2014 & 2015

Between 2014 and 2015, the number of children in Nebraska foster care out-of-home placements increased by four percent, from 3,019 as of June 30, 2014 to 3,145 as of June 30, 2015. The out-of-home placements included foster homes, group homes, emergency shelters, and other out-of-home settings. The increase is the first in nearly three years. Additionally, between 2014 and 2015, the total number of children who spent one or more days in out-of-home care increased by 3%, from 5,466 during 2014 to 5,630 during 2015
