Bill To End Government Shutdown Extends Medicare Telehealth Flexibilities & Hospital At-Home
Federal legislation signed on February 3, 2026, to end the partial government shutdown included provisions to reinstate key Medicare telehealth flexibilities for several years. During a four day government shutdown, most Medicare telehealth flexibilities expired on January 30, 2026, with the exception of behavioral health services.
Most Medicare telehealth flexibilities are extended through December 31, 2027. The Medicare Acute Hospital Care at Home Program was extended through September 30, 2030. The Medicare in-home cardiopulmonary rehabilitation flexibilities were extended through January 1, 2028.
