Blue Cross Massachusetts Spending On GLP-1 Medications For Weight Loss Rises 250% In One Year

On November 15, 2024, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Inc. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts HMO Blue, Inc. (Blue Cross) reported that its spending on GLP-1 weight loss medications was 250% higher than the previous year. Blue Cross anticipates that during 2024, it will spend nearly $200 million on GLP-1 medications.
