California CARE Engages More Than 3,300 People With Severe Mental Illness
A total of 3,366 people at the highest risk of hospitalization, homelessness, and incarceration have engaged with county behavioral health organizations and related services across California under the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Act since October 2023, according to a recent report from the California Health and & Human Services Agency (CalHHS). The total of 3,366 people engaged through CARE includes 2,008 petitions filed and 1,358 diversions, as stated in the report's analysis of state data.
