California DMHC Finds Behavioral Health Access Violations In First Round Of Full-Service Commercial Health Plan Investigations
In a review of five commercial health plans, the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) found a range of problems affecting member access to covered behavioral health services. The problems violate the state’s Knox-Keene Act. The plans reviewed are: Cigna HealthCare of California, Inc., Community Care Health Plan, Inc., Contra Costa County Medical Services (Contra Costa Health Plan), Sutter Health Plan (Sutter Health Plus), and County of Ventura (Ventura County Health Care Plan).
