California Implements Quality Measures For Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans
California has implemented standardized quality measures for Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program, managed care plans (MCPs). California’s implementation of quality measures for Medi-Cal MCPs is a structured effort led by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to ensure high-quality care for the 80% of Medi-Cal’s 14 million enrollees who receive services through managed care. Acceptable quality measure performance levels were historically set at the national Medicaid 25th percentile, but have been raised to the 50th percentile in recent years to drive improvement.
