California Medicaid Releases Plan For Transitioning Developmental Center Residents To Managed Care

On April 26, 2017, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released a draft plan that describes how it intends to transition the provision of services for Medicaid-eligible developmental center residents to managed care plans. The residents affected by the plan currently live at the Sonoma, Fairview, and Porterville developmental centers, which are all slated for closure in the next few years. The Sonoma center is projected to close during December 2018. The Fairview center and the Porterville General Treatment Area (GTA) are scheduled to close in December 2021.
