California Medi-Cal Submits Waiver For Expanded Residential Addiction Treatment Benefits
On November 21, 2014, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) submitted a Medicaid waiver amendment to implement expanded residential treatment benefits for all Medi-Cal beneficiaries. The new benefits would be part of an organized delivery system (ODS ) managed by California counties; however, county participation in the ODS would be optional.
Currently, Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) residential treatment services are only available to pregnant/postpartum beneficiaries in facilities with 16 or fewer beds.
