California Prison System Agrees To New Reentry Process Improving Services For Parolees With Disabilities
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) agreed to improve its reentry processes to improve the transition to parole for offenders with disabilities. On June 9, 2023, in response to a court order, CDCR will now release inmates with a 60-day supply of their prescription medications, up from the previous 30-day supply, and promised to replace medical equipment lost within the first month of an inmate’s being released from prison. CDCR officials will also submit applications for Medi-Cal, (California’s Medicaid program), on behalf of inmates at least 90 days before discharge.
