California Reentry Program To Provide Direct Cash Stipends In Transition From Prison to Community

A pilot reentry program in California will provide cash stipends to approximately 1,500 people to help them transition from prison back to the community. Each participant can earn direct cash payments of up to $2,400 in total, plus counseling, job search assistance, and other support. They can use the funding to pay for transportation and housing. The two-year project is slated to launch in April 2024. The ultimate goal is to reduce recidivism among the participants.
