California Releases More Funding To Clear Homeless Encampments

California released $920 million to support local communities in reducing homelessness, by clearing encampments and funding shelters and support. On February 24, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the funding includes about $160 million in Encampment Resolution Funds (ERF) and the availability of $760 million in new funding for communities through the sixth round of the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) program. Additionally, the state released nearly $42 million of HHAP Round 5 funding for five regions.
