California To Develop A Statewide Fee Schedule For School-Based Mental Health Services

On August 18, 2022, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will develop and maintain a school-linked statewide fee schedule for school-based mental health services. The fee schedule will be used to set commercial and Medicaid reimbursements for outpatient mental health and addiction services provided to a student, 25 years of age or younger, at or near a school-site. The fee schedule is to be in place by January 1, 2024. The fee schedule is one of the state’s strategies to implement its Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative.
