California To Discontinue The Medicaid Asset Test For Eligibility In 2024
On July 14, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a California state plan amendment to eliminate asset tests for Medicaid (“Medi-Cal”) eligibility in California. This means that income-eligible people will be able to access Medi-Cal’s Aged and Disabled program, Medicare Savings Programs, and Long-Term Care programs regardless of assets. The asset test elimination will be effective as of January 1, 2024.
