California Transitions Medicaid Specialty Mental Health Services To Sacramento & Solano Counties
On July 1, 2024, responsibility for specialty mental health services (SMHS) for Medicaid beneficiaries with serious mental illness (SMI) in Sacramento and Solano counties in California will transition back to the counties from the Medicaid health plans serving the counties, Kaiser Permanente and Partnership HealthPlan of California. These are the last two counties to take on responsibility for SHMS as required by the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) benefit standardization initiative.
