Californians Receiving I/DD Services Had 60% Lower COVID Case Rate Than Population, But 2.8 Times Higher Fatality Rate
People with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) receiving services through the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) had a 60% lower case rate of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) than people not receiving I/DD services, but those who were infected had a fatality rate 2.8 times higher. Among people receiving I/DD services, the case rate was 831 cases per 100,000 people with I/DD, compared to 2,085 cases per 100,000 people not receiving I/DD services.
