Career Enhancement Gains Strength As Employment Retention Tool for I/DD Direct Support Professionals
As of March 2025, more direct support professionals (DSPs) for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) said in the 2025 DSP Survey Report that they are likely to stay with their employer if career advancement programs are offered, compared to data from 2023. The researchers concluded that the survey results underscore the importance of professional growth, learning opportunities, and well-being initiatives for satisfaction and retention among DSPs.
