CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield To Launch New Addiction Treatment Programs In D.C. Area

During the first quarter of 2018, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, which serves Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, plans to launch new programs to address opioid addiction disorder. The insurer plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) to community non-profit provider organizations serving the company’s Maryland, District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia service area. CareFirst plans to award a total of $1.5 million for programs and initiatives designed to directly address opioid use, addiction, and related issues.
