Survey Finds Children In Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, North Dakota, Rhode Island, And Utah Have Most Resilient Childhoods

Childhood resiliency was highest in Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Utah based on parent survey responses. The survey responses were used to generate a Family Studies Resilient Childhood Score (RCS), which measures the extent to which children have independent, socially diverse, and “technology-lite” childhoods. The states with the lowest RCS scores are Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
