City Of Los Angeles Launches Initiative To Reduce Street Homelessness
On December 21, 2022, newly elected Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass signed an executive directive to launch a new housing initiative intended to reduce street homelessness in the city by offering placement in immediate interim housing and linkage to a permanent housing resource and wraparound care. Through this initiative, called “Inside Safe,” city workers will assess street homelessness within city limits and then proactively engage with people living in tents and encampments based on which locations are most chronic and where people are most in crisis, to be defined as a high demand for services.
