CMS Approves Mobile Crisis Service For Maryland Medicaid Program
On April 15, 2024, the Maryland Medicaid program gained approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to reimburse for community-based mobile crisis intervention services to include mobile crisis teams and a behavioral health crisis stabilization centers. The new state plan amendment (SPA) went into effect on May 1, 2024. Maryland is the eighteenth state with a SPA to cover mobile crisis services.
With these new services, the state will connect people in a mental health or addiction crisis to a behavioral health specialist 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. The Maryland . . .
