Tennessee Receives Federal Approval For Eligibility Expansion For Caretaker Parents & Enhanced HCBS

On May 17, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Tennessee’s Medicaid 1115 demonstration waiver amendment for TennCare III, which will run through December 30, 2030. TennCare III will expand eligibility for parents and caretaker relatives of dependent children, add a new benefit to cover a supply of diapers for infants and young children, and enhance home and community-based services (HCBS) for beneficiaries with disabilities.

With this approval, more parents and caregivers will qualify for TennCare beginning June 1, 2024, because income eligibility for TennCare will be expanded to those with income up to 100 . . .
