CMS Projects Over 16% Drop In Medicare Advantage Premiums For The 2027 Plan Year

Medicare Advantage premiums are projected to decline 16.5% in 2027, according to projections released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on September 28, 2026. The average monthly Medicare Advantage premium will fall from $14.37 in 2026 to $12.00 in 2027. Premiums for prescription drug coverage included in Medicare Advantage plans are also expected to decline by approximately 38%.

The changes come ahead of Medicare Open Enrollment, which begins October 15, 2026.
