CMS Proposes Mandatory Model To Increase Kidney Transplant Access
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed a new mandatory model to increase access to kidney transplants for all people living with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) while also reducing Medicare expenditures. Through the Increasing Organ Transplant Access (IOTA) Model, CMS plans to select approximately half of the donation service areas (DSAs) and all eligible kidney transplant hospitals in those DSAs to participate in the mandatory model.
